High Country Chorus (HCC) of Sweet Adelines International is an exceptional group of women in Colorado, located on the front range, who sing four-part a cappella harmony. The chorus was established in 1955 with a handful of members and has grown to more than 70 singers ranging in ages from 18 to 85!
HCC changes the lives of women in positive ways by providing educational and leadership opportunities, and is a strong supporter of the Young Singers Foundation and Young Women in Harmony, with annual awards and scholarships to middle and high school students to attend the Summer Harmony Camp held each summer in Estes Park.
HCC was the first place Sweet Adelines International Champion in 1980 and 1987. The chorus had the honor of representing Region 8 at the 2017 Sweet Adelines International Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, and became the Rocky Mountain Region 8 Champion once again in 2018 earning a spot on the international stage in 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. High Country Chorus was awarded regional champion in 2022 and competed at the international contest in Louisville, Kentucky, November of 2023.
In addition, HCC has talented singers, and many of our dedicated members serve in various administrative and leadership roles. Several members hold positions on the Rocky Mountain Region 8 Board as well..
High Country Chorus enjoys sharing the gift of music in the community throughout the year, entertaining the public with annual shows and seasonal performances. HCC has sung The Star Spangled Banner for a number of sports events, including the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Rockies, and Metro State University of Denver,
Gathering each week for friendship, camaraderie and singing, is life-changing, and High Country members strive to preserve the unique sound of acappella barbershop harmony, and share a passion for music, education and the opportunity to empower others in every area of their lives. (see History page)
